Located in Hampshire on the south coast of England they design and manufacture:
*Flight deck avionics: - Sensors and cockpit display systems for most of the world´s leading aircraft manufacturers of civil and military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. *Data acquisition systems: - Flight data recorders, health and usage monitoring systems and engine monitoring units for civil and military aircraft, fixed or rotary wing. *Instruments and life support: - Electro-mechanical instruments and military aircrew oxygen systems - design, manufacture and support benefiting from over 40 years´ experience.
Due to the growth of their business they currently require a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their team in Hampshire.
The main remit of the role will be the design management and design, modification, commissioning, verification and proving of electronic circuits, to agreed schedule, quality and cost requirements, across the whole development lifecycle, within the context of the lifecycle management process.
You will also be responsible for the preparation of documentation and plans to enable and manage the qualification and certification/approval of products in accordance with programme-specific requirements of safety critical products.
Key duties include;
To generate hardware requirements documents from higher level requirements and ensure designs are documented to the relevant project/Company standards
To discover, design, analyse, commission and verify analogue and digital circuits in accordance with defined requirements specifications
To plan and manage hardware qualification activities and specify, design, commission and verify equipment test requirements
Provide technical leadership in area of hardware expertise and where appropriate provide development of multi-disciplinary teams to meet the requirements of the business and its customers
To take responsibility for completing hardware engineering activities to cost and schedule
To liaise with customers, other departments, functional groups and external sub-contractors as necessary, across the whole development process and respond to their requests in a timely and professional manner
Assist the Functional Engineering Manager and IP Team Lead in the formulation of engineering strategy and continual process improvement, in support of the company business and strategic objectives
Undertake any other engineering related tasks commensurate with this post as required by the IP Team Lead or Manager
The successful candidate will be qualified to BSc level, or the equivalent, in Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline and have proven and extensive hardware design skills. This should include experience of the complete design life cycle from interpretation of a requirements specification through design, development, debugging and documentation to design proving and certification.
You will have experience in 3 or more of the following;
Designing microprocessor circuitry Designing analogue circuitry (e.g. amplifiers, filters and signal sampling) Logic design and schematic capture techniques Knowledge of hardware qualification practices and procedures Compiling plans, estimates, task lists and risk management plans with estimated resource requirements (people and equipment) in support of programme objectives, project estimates and bids Experience of keeping documentation under formal configuration control Experience of preparing board and unit level test specifications
The successful candidate will also be innovative, with good communication skills and have the ability to deal with internal and external customers and have previously worked in a team environment.
Ideally, the successful candidate will also have experience of the avionics industry.
